BrewDog to join Carlisle’s high street

The rumours are true – BrewDog have confirmed they’ll be joining Carlisle’s high street before the end of the year.

A former arcade on Botchergate will become a brand new craft beer bar decked out in BrewDog’s branding – and it won’t take long. The announcement makes it clear that pints of Punk IPA will be served from the brand new bar in Carlisle as soon as the end of November. This means they’ll be right beside the Woodrow Wilson, near the train station, in the Victory Amusements building, which has been vacant for some time.

It’s not as surprising as it sounds. Carlisle’s status as a university city and centre for nightlife has made it an ideal location for bars to open, and the local independent beer scene has grown rapidly, valued by locals who want good beer closer to home. Bars like The Last Zebra, The Fat Gadgie, 301 Miles From London and the Howard Arms all offering great beer from Cumbria and further afield.
